The OpenISES Project

Latest News

17 November 2005

Well, it has been some time since we have updated this section. We have had some set-backs, but we are still moving forward. Here is a brief overview of what has been accomplished so far.

Version 0.7.0 Release
Version 0.7.0 has been released as an installable file. Most of the components of the software are now operational. The Task List is not yet working, but you can see where we are going with it. Let us know what you think of the project so far.

OpenISES Project
The eBook Writer is now a part of the OpenISES Project. The OpenISES (Open Information Systems for Emergency Services) Project is a community that is creating software that is geared towards emergency services. This software was originally created to transfer EMS Protocols to the Palm or other handheld.

After nearly three years of sitting stagnant on the hard drive, the eBook Reader has been revived and has found a home at SourceForge. This program, and its sister project, "The PAD Program Management System," are designed to help emergency services agencies. Emergency service agencies, especially those in smaller areas, are sometimes forced to decide between equipment and software. We hope to help this situation by providing open source software that emergency service agencies can use. We also hope this will help bring this situation to the attention of the open source community, and these talented programmers will help fill in the gap.

As this project is just getting started on SourceForge, not everything is up and running. We do not yet have a beta release ready, but we do have the current version of the software uploaded in the CVS section on our SourceForge project page. We hope to have some other stuff, such as program documentation, uploaded as soon as possible. Stay tuned!
